  • Smith & Nephew Acticoat Post-Op Dressing

Smith & Nephew Acticoat Post-Op Dressing

Silver-Coated Antimicrobial Barrier Dressing for adynamic antimicrobial system

    Features and Benefits:

    • Acticoat Post-Op is a surgical wound dressing that utilises the dynamic antimicrobial properties of nanocrystalline silver.
    • In vitro testing has shown nanocrystalline silver can rapidly eliminate over 150 pathogens including MRSA, VRE and fungal organisms.
    • Acticoat Post-Op provides sustained protection by maintaining its antimicrobial effectiveness for up to 7 days.
    • Acticoat Post-Op features an absorbent polyurethane foam pad that wicks away excess fluid while the waterproof adhesive-coated polyurethane film layer secures the dressing firmly and allows the patient to shower.
    • The nanocrystalline silver technology present in Acticoat Post-Op has been shown to reduce post-surgical complication rates.
    • Acticoat Post-Op Part of an integrated infection management strategy

    Contraindications / Precautions:

Do not use on patients with a known sensitivity to silver. Do not use on patients during MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) examination. Prior to commencing radiation therapy remove Acticoat Post-Op. A new dressing can be applied following treatment.

    For external use only.

    • Acticoat Post-Op is not compatible with oil-base products such as petrolatum.
    • Acticoat Post-Op may not be compatible with other topical antimicrobials.
    • Do not use Acticoat Post-Op with saline. Acticoat Post-Op is not compatible with oxidizing agents (e.g. EUSOL) as these can break down the absorbent polyurethane component of the dressing.
    • Avoid contact with electrodes or conductive gels during electronic measurements e.g. EEG and ECG. As with all adhesive products, it should be noted that inappropriate use or too frequent dressing changes, particularly on patients with fragile skin, can result in skin stripping. If reddening or sensitisation occurs, discontinue use.
